VOYEURISM IV

Here is another painting by Ben Newman, who has a blog here.  Once again, Ben uses the power of suggestion to create a very erotic scenario, a scene which is both arousing and unsettling.  Though he leaves the viewer to decide what's going on, the artist gives us several clues: the family photograph on the wall; the fact that each of the three characters has the same hair colour; the strong resemblance between the two boys.  The boys are depicted as intellectually dull - brutish even - but in spite of their unprepossessing appearance, the girl (another of Ben's depraved wantons!) obviously welcomes their attentions.

And what of the voyeur? He seems to be about to intervene in some way.  But in what way?  Is he about to put a stop to a very inappropriate situation and protect the girl from her own base instincts? -  or is he about to join in?  Perhaps he is an older man who will shoo the boys away, asserting his seniority to claim the girl for himself.

A drawing of deeply suggestive power!

VOYEURISM II

This is another example of the work of Tom Poulton.  In this picture we cannot see what the voyeur is looking at, but we can guess (note the shoes outside the room!).

I love artwork that has a strong sense of period or place - interesting costumes and settings add a lot to the overall impact of an erotic drawing.
VOYEURISM I

I've chosen to include this picture in my Blog because it illustrates a recurring theme in erotic/pornographic art - the voyeur.   It's difficult to explain why but when an artist adds a 'wacher' to the scene, it becomes ten times more arousing - well, that's what I think!

This picture, which is one of a series of 30+ paintings, is by a French artist called Georges Delfau.  One could be forgiven for thinking it was painted around 1900 but in fact it seems to date from the 1990s when it was published in Paris. The entire series features women in late middle age enjoying a lively and varied sex-life.  The artist makes no attempt to idealize these women; they are not beautiful and their lovers (young or old, male or female) are never good-looking.

The pictures seem to have been done in oils, or perhaps oil pastels.  Delfau has gone to a lot of trouble to create an interesting and detailed setting (in this case, an Edwardian bedroom) and the sexual details are usually suggested, rather than shown in gory detail.

But what about the voyeur?  The teddy bear suggests that this is child, perhaps awoken by the sounds of lovemaking.  And what is he witnessing?  His mother and father?  His mother with 'another man'?  His father with the woman next door?  Who knows!

THE ART OF SUGGESTION

This is a sample of the work of Ben Newman, who has a blog here.  I only discovered his identity this week, though I have admired his pictures for some time, without knowing anything about him.

This is a marvellous picture.  I love that he has decided to use black and white, so that the painting looks like an old photograph.  But what the hell is going on here?  Like I said earlier, the best erotic art leaves the viewer to decide what's going on, and why.  My imagination tells me that this depraved lovely is a very, very bored nymphomanic, tied to a tedious office job and with time on her hands.  Bored to distraction, but horny as hell, she amuses herself by improvising sextoys for herself.  She's obviously tried each of them out (note the pools of fluid around most of the objects) - and one can only guess at the use she has put those bulldog clips to!  But just look at the expression on her face!  Have these 'toys' satisfied her?  Surely not, for her lovely, sullen face suggests that she is still in the grips of powerful sexual impulses.  Bravo Ben.  I wish I had a 100th of your talent.
This is by Kim Wilder, a male to female transsexual artist with whom I have had a long email correspondence.  This drawing is a wonderful example of how the artist can create something far sexier than the camera ever could.  Just look at the exaggerated contours of the girls' bodies, accentuated by their tight clothes!  Few real girls could achieve this look, but Kim can create it with a few deft strokes of her pencil.  Ironically, it turns out that neither of these ultra female creatures are women at all; they are, in fact, very well hung shemales hiding big secrets under their tight skirts.
This is by Lynn-Paula Russell.  Lynn was once a porn-actress specializing in S&M movies, I believe.  Most of her work is about bondage, corporal punishment, whipping, caning and spanking.  That's great, but I prefer her more general work, such as this example.  To me, the best erotic art sets up a situation and leaves the viewer to make up a story to fit it.  Is this a whore with a client or a couple who have just met and, overwhelmed with desire, have resorted to a back-alley in which to satisfy their lust?  Who knows?
